How Probiotics Helped Me

In 2018 I found myself at the heaviest I had ever been. I peaked at 178lbs and my 5’3 frame was struggling to keep up. I felt terrible, hid for pictures, wore oversized shorts to hide my bulge.

I knew it was time for a change. I researched meal prep and with the help of a bodybuilder friend, took the leap of faith into fully committing myself to wellness. I took my food everywhere I went and was holding myself accountable for eating it. Since I cooked it, I was sure to not let it go to waste. I took a dirty keto approach to prepping. I had my carbs but was working out with high intensity cardio 6 days a week. You know what happened? A transformation. I lost 38lbs in just under 2 months. More than that my energy had improved, my mood had leveled, and I was feeling better overall.

I was ecstatic! But I found that I still had the “mommy pooch”. The lower part of my belly always seemed to be distended. No matter how hard I worked in the gym, I just couldn’t lose it.

The bodybuilder who was helping me suggested beginning a probiotic regime. I had never taken one before and was doubtful it would work for me. It felt like a “magic pill solution” that stemmed from my lack of knowledge on gut health. I started taking one that was recommended and almost immediately saw results.

I noticed that my gut health was as, if not more, important than my healthy eating. I felt lighter, more confident in wearing a shirt that cut a little higher, and felt as though I was again making progress on my journey of wellness.

I felt like I got my body back to moving in the right direction. Bottom line is, women are made different. We are sensitive to foods, hormones, and other outside factors that play a huge role in bloating and discomfort.

Moderating food sensitivities, along with a probiotic is what I have found works best for tackling the gut discomforts we all experience!
